U.S. Army Advertising Campaign
Jan 26, 2009On Veteran’s Day 2008, the U.S. Army launched a new series of advertisements that served as an extension of the current “Army Strong” recruitment marketing campaign. The new campaign included television and digital advertising as well as several new interactive features on goarmy.com. Much of the new advertising campaign features real Soldiers discussing their life and careers in the Army.
A series of four “Strength Like No Other” television advertisements further define the training, education, and leadership development opportunities provided to Soldiers in Army. "These new ads convey that there is no other place in the world that offers the experiences you will gain through public service in the Army," said Ed Walters, Chief Marketing Officer for the U.S. Army.
Additionally, several television advertisements were launched that included personal testimonies from family members of current Soldiers. These advertisements help to provide parents and family members of prospective Soldiers with first hand accounts detailing the personal development and career opportunities current Soldiers are experiencing through service in the U.S. Army.
The final television advertisement in the series, entitled “Anthem,” depicts scenes of Soldiers from a wide array of career fields in all areas of the Army reciting the Soldier’s Creed. The advertisement conveys the depth, breadth, and unity of the U.S. Army and expands the public’s perspective on who an American Soldier truly is.
Several new interactive features were added to GoArmy.com as a part of the campaign. In each new segment of GoArmy.com, real Soldiers give a different inside look at life in the Army. “Life on Post” takes a closer look at how Soldiers spend their free time on base. “Straight From Iraq” give prospective Soldiers and their parents the opportunity to ask questions and hear answers first hand from Soldier currently serving in Iraq. “Nine Weeks” gives potential recruits the opportunity to experience basic training from fall in to graduation day.
