U.S. ARMY PARTNERS WITH LULAC AND ITS NATIONAL EDUCATION AND SERVICE CENTERS (LNESC)
Partnership Provides Support for Student Leaders Across the United States and Puerto Rico
WHAT: The U.S. Army continues to strengthen its partnership with the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) through support of the LULAC Annual Convention and Expo, from July 7 -12, in Washington, DC. The Army will participate in a number of events during the convention and will announce a new partnership with the LULAC National Education Service Centers (LNESC) that includes a national LNESC youth leadership development program.
During the LULAC annual conference, U.S. Army representatives will emphasize the Army's commitment to form strong leaders that make a difference through the pursuit of educational excellence in our communities.
In addition to the many events the Army will participate in, nationally recognized motivational speaker Consuelo Castillo Kickbusch, LTC (Ret) US Army, will also be a panelist during an exciting seminar titled “High Powered Latinas and the Challenges They Face,” on July 11 (10:30 – 11:50 a.m.), to discuss key issues facing Latinas and how to overcome obstacles.

JULY 9
Partnership Luncheon 12 noon – 1:45 PM
Senior Army leadership representative will address attendees on the importance of the LNESC partnership and how both organizations focus on their commitment to education, leadership and empowerment of Latino students. This partnership reenergizes an important youth leadership development program for LNESC. MOU signing to follow. A U.S. Army Drill team will also perform during the luncheon.
JULY 11
LNESC Breakfast 7:30 AM – 9:00 AM
Command Sergeant Major (CSM) Victor Rivera will address students at the LNESC Breakfast and speak briefly on the Army's support for the LNESC Washington Youth Leadership Seminar (WYLS). The program is an intensive three day seminar which brings together fifty outstanding students from across the US and Puerto Rico in Washington, DC, to work on public policy issues and meet with national leaders from the US Congress and other institutions.
Youth Collegiate Forum 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM
Captain Rolando Rodriguez, Army ROTC representative from John Hopkins University, along with CSM Rivera and other military representatives, will participate in discussion panels for 300 hundred students, to share their day-to-day experience as a Soldier and how the Army can fund the pursuit of higher education via officership or enlistment.
JULY 9 – 11
US Army Exhibit at the LULAC Career Expo
An exhibit that provides a hands-on experience with U.S. Army technology - including a robotics obstacle course for participants - as well as information on the professional opportunities and careers paths available within the Army.
JULY 12
Presidential Celebration 8:00 PM – 10:00 PM
A performance by the U.S. Army Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps will open the Gala ceremony of the annual convention.
